Three tasks we build first
Most small companies rent their software by the month and still carry the repetitive work on one or two people. These are the three tasks we build agents for first, because they are the ones we see most often.
Answering what comes in. Quote requests, contact forms, booking questions. The agent reads the request, answers with what your company already knows (services, prices you have approved, hours, service area), and asks you before the reply goes out.
Following up. Every open conversation gets a drafted follow-up on the day it should happen. You edit and send, or let it go. Nothing is sent without a person saying yes.
Keeping the books on the work. Which requests came in, which were answered, which are waiting, what each answer cost. One page a week, in business terms, so you know what the agents did and what they are worth.
Each agent has a name, a spending cap, and a receipt. Each one asks before anything reaches a customer.
Client Zero
We built this inside our own company first, and we write down what happened, with dates.
The work did not stop while we were away. On August 26 Jessy and I left the apartment for a day trip; the place stayed empty about twelve hours and the agents kept closing work. Written up on August 22 and 27 at betorodriguez.com (Aug 22, 2026).
One door for all our AI, with a backup behind it. Every AI call the company makes goes through a gateway we own. When a provider fails, the request falls to the next one on its own. Switching providers took an afternoon; adding a new one took a day. We have more than a dozen behind that door today.
We know what every task costs. Each AI call is recorded with who made it and what for. Prices are re-verified every week. One week's bill was $39, and $35 of it was a single writer on the most expensive model, so we moved it.
A person approves before anything goes live. The agents draft, build, and check each other's work. Nothing is published without a human pressing the button. That rule is the system, not a limit on it.
Some of the AI already runs on our own hardware. Chat and drafting live on a machine we own, at no cost per word. Coding agents do not fit there yet, and we say so.

How it happens, and how long it takes
Durations are what it took inside our own company; the first company that is not ours will correct them, and we will publish the real numbers.
0 · Dependency Map — free. One page: what your company does by hand each week, what you rent and what it costs, and what happens if one of those vendors disappears tomorrow. Half an hour of your time. You keep the page.
1 · Independence Diagnosis — fixed price, usually one to two weeks. We sit with the person who actually does the work, write down how the company really runs, and leave one small agent doing the task that hurts most, so you see it working before deciding anything bigger. If you stop here, the document and the agent are yours.
2 · First Build — one department, usually four to six weeks. The two or three agents for the department that eats the most hours, installed on your side (your repository, your keys, your data). Each one asks for your yes before touching a customer.
3 · Monthly, no contract. Someone watches what each agent costs, moves it to a better provider when one gets worse or more expensive, and adds one small thing a month as the business moves. If you leave, you take everything.
From the first call to a department running on its own: usually about two months.
What you take with you
If we ever part ways, you keep the code, the keys, the data, and the documentation. That is the only real proof it was yours.
What we are not.
We are not a rented workflow on someone else's platform, and we are not the AI button inside your CRM. We build what your company does, on your own ground, and hand it over with the keys.
